REDUCE: Wireless Lighting Controls

Non-invasive integrated lighting and energy management systems, combined with standard controls, are crucial for achieving projected savings across various sectors. According to the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE), ‘Connected Lighting’ represents a $50 billion opportunity for energy savings in the United States. This approach can lead to 75% savings, compared to only 25% savings when just retrofitting with LEDs. The ratio of energy used in lighting creates more heat than light. Effectively that means lighting is part of the HVAC. Among all market segments identified by the DoE, the commercial building segment is the most significant. In commercial buildings, 98% of lighting is currently uncontrolled.
